Enjoy A Cup Of Joe

A very common question pregnant and nursing moms ask is, "Can I have caffeine?"  In regards to breastfeeding, feel free and enjoy a cup of joe!  Breastfeeding mothers can enjoy approximately 200mg of caffeine/day, or roughly 2c of regular brewed coffee.  If your baby ever seems fussy or has trouble sleeping you may consider your caffeine intake and may need to decrease or omit.  Every baby is different!  

Coffee has health benefits as well.  Chloregenic acids have an antioxidant effect and diterpenes have an anticarcinogenic effect, both of which are substances found in coffee.  Did you know?  Filtered, caffeinated coffee has increased levels of these benefits vs. unfiltered, such as French press, or decaf coffee.
